He’s the man who raised you right. Or, he’s the loving father of your children. Or maybe he’s a brother, uncle, minister, coworker or neighbor who gives selflessly as a father figure to young people, whether they are his own children or others’.

Dad.

He’s the first man most of us have ever loved. He’s the family rock, appreciated for his strength, kindness, culinary skills (especially when he fires up the grill!), sacrifice, support and sometimes, for his undeniable swagger. The dads in our lives serve as coaches, counselors, confidantes. When needed to help his son deal with a bully or his daughter with an out-of-line boyfriend, he is an un-caped crusader. Because of a father’s example and encouragement, many of us learned how to speak up at work or to know our worth in relationships.

So pops, it’s time to thank you for all that you are and all that you do. This Father’s Day playlist includes heartfelt and sentimental songs by Luther Vandross (“Dance With My Father”), Beyonce (“Daddy”), The Temptations (“My Girl”), Stevie Wonder (“You Are The Sunshine Of My Life”), Natalie Cole (“Unforgettable”), Phil Collins (“Father to Son”), Will Smith (“Just the Two of Us”) and other pop, soul and jazz artists. Each track beautifully illustrates a special bond between dads and their daughters or sons.
