Your Hot Fun in the Summertime Playlist

Here are 27 fresh and classic jams to set the mood for your next barbecue, picnic or beach outing.

Now that COVID-19 vaccines are rolling out across the country, and the pandemic is showing signs of slowing down, we’re looking forward to safely hanging out with friends and family we’ve missed sharing quality face-to-face time with. And let’s not forget the closet full of summer dresses, jumpers, shorts, swimwear and caftans we've been eager to show off.

So fire up the grill and prep your deck for a long overdue cookout, pack a tasty picnic lunch and head to the park, or escape to the beach for some social and still socially distanced hot fun in the summertime.

Need a sizzling soundtrack to accompany your chill-full itinerary? We’ve got you.

This playlist features summer hits spanning several decades, including Chubby Checker’s 1960 dance-craze single, “The Twist”; Donna Summer’s fiery 1979 disco hit, “Hot Stuff”; Prince’s 1984 genre-defying classic, “When Doves Cry”; D.J. Jazzy Jeff & the Fresh Prince’s 1991 seasonal anthem, “Summertime”; and Nelly’s 2002 club thumper, “Hot in Herre.” Also in the mix are carefree summer vibes from Janet Jackson (“The Pleasure Principle”); Beyoncé, featuring Jay-Z (“Crazy in Love”); Zhané (“Hey Mr. D.J.”); DeBarge (“Rhythm of the Night”); Stevie Wonder (“You Are the Sunshine of My Life”); and Sly and The Family Stone (“Hot Fun in the Summertime”).
