Cooking Class: Silver Palate Favorites

Whether you are a cook of “a certain age" who remembers “The Silver Palate Cookbook” or this is your first introduction, join in the cooking fun as Chef Liz Barbour demonstrates two of her favorite old-school recipes: the Silver Palate Chicken Marbella and Chocolate Cake.



If you like, you can download a list of ingredients to have on hand, as Liz takes you step-by-step through each recipe to build your confidence and inspire you to prepare meals more often - and more healthfully - at home. 



Holistic Health: Happy Hands and Feet

Are your tootsies tired? Gain a better understanding of the anatomy of your foot as you use a Pinky Ball and therapeutic movement to release fascia and engage the arches of your feet. This sequence is aimed at soothing achy feet and plantar fasciitis, and at finding more balance and stability and the possibility of greater movement.



We’ll also explore how the Pinky Ball (see an example of one) can be a fabulous tool for caring for your hands. Much of the movement can be performed in a chair. Please consult a physician before beginning any new exercise regimen.



Put on Your Cowboy Boots and Try Line Dancing

Lots of people have tried the electric slide, but there’s so much more to discover. Especially if you can show off some country line dancing moves to Beyonce’s “Texas Hold ‘Em”!



This virtual exercise class will cover basic country line dancing steps, from the shuffle to the Charleston to the grapevine. So put your best two-step forward and find out how much fun and heart healthy it can be to dance.

Treat Yourself to a Virtual ‘Paint and Sip’ Class

Did someone say paint and sip? Sign us up! Caregivers or anyone else who needs a break and wants to tap into their creative side are welcome to join this virtual class.



Grab your favorite beverage and follow step-by-step guidance as you try your hand at painting Poppies. AARP will also provide a brief presentation about available caregiving resources.



Supplies:



● A canvas, canvas board, or acrylic paper (recommend 9"x 12" or 11" x 14" but any size works). 

● Easel (optional)  

● Acrylic paints: red, blue, yellow, white and black; green is optional (we will also blend it in class)

● 3-5 brushes, from large to fine-detail sizes  

● Pencil for composition sketching  

● A cup of water to rinse brushes  

● Small plate to mix colors  

● Paper towels 





Demystifying Diabetes: Prediabetes - Turn it Around!

Fitness Friday: A Strength & Conditioning Workout for All

Led by buff instructor DaShaun Johnson, this total body strength and conditioning home workout is designed to help you get stronger and more fit.



Light weights, water, a towel and comfortable clothing are recommended.



Part of the “Fitness Friday” series, the workout incorporates exercises to strengthen your muscles and bones, and increase your heart rate. It allows you to go at your own pace and can be tailored for every fitness level. Please consult your physician before starting any new exercise regimen.

The Healing Art of Qigong

Enhance Your Workout With Yoga Fusion

Unwind on Tax Day with this online yoga class that uses yoga poses, stretches and breathing techniques with other fitness moves, incorporating light weights (optional) and yoga straps. Self-care techniques such as hand and foot massages are part of the fun.



The fusion between yoga and other fitness exercises helps develop upper- and lower-body muscle strength and eye and hand coordination and can result in more vitality, improved posture, and a sense of well-being. Great for beginners!
